Light Shining Darkly (LSD) is another modern west coast IPA that shines (darkly) by creating a pale, zippy malt character, from the exclusive use of Pilsner malt as the base malt. This canvas is the perfect vessel for extensive hopping with both standard type 90 pellets, and other advanced hop products like Cryo hops and whirlpool extracts. Hopped heavily hot side with Mosaic, Simcoe, Nelson, and Amarillo TDNE laid down an oily, fruit forward hop character to set the stage for a mega dry hop of all the above hops + a touch of Riwaka for good measure. The combination of both hop loads put forward a nice balance of pithy citrus, mango, and just the right hint of that 60s reefer madness. Drop some LSD in your mouth and let those lights shine strongly and darkly!
